Important News about our RELEASE DATES!

We recently signed a distribution contract with enemi entertainment, publishers of a new catalog of independent comics that is going out to over 3000 retailers. This catalog includes Lazerman, and many other indy books (including some very well known publishers.) I recently spoke to the owner of enemi, and he informed me that the first issue of the catalog would be shipping to stores in late August, and the shelf date for the issues in that catalog would be December. As a bi-monthly catalog, the second would be in February, then the third in April.

The enemi catalog is going to represent the vast majority of our distribution...so we wanted to align ourselves to their schedule. To that end we also decided NOT to release the issues on the "Indyplanet" web store until they were in comic shops in December. With all that in mind, here is the new release schedule:

Lazerman 1: DECEMBER 2008
Lazerman 2: DECEMBER 2008
Lazerman 3: FEBRUARY 2009
Lazerman 4: APRIL 2009

I want everyone to know: THIS CHANGE IS NOT BECAUSE THE BOOKS WEREN'T READY. Issue 1 and 2 are not only done, but we've already sold a bunch of them at Wizard World. Issue 3 is mostly completed, and is waaaaay ahead of schedule...and we've already started issue 4. All four books would have been completed and ready well before their intended release.

Lazerman confirmed to appear in "War of the Independents" Tie in!

When we first met Dave Ryan, creator of the mega event WAR OF THE INDEPENDENTS, the 6 issues that make up the series were already well into production. However, like all great crossovers, WOTI has several tie-ins...one of them is TALON/EZRA/BRIGHT EYES: TRIPLE THREAT. This one shot tie-in is put together by the incredibly talented Peter Palmiotti (who also inks the main WAR books), and boasts it's own impressive list of indy guest stars, including ATOMIC ROBO, JUSTICE...and our very own LAZERMAN!!!! The "LAZERBLOG" to become the "OFFICIAL HBCOMICS BLOG!"

Staring in September this space will host the Official HBComics BLOG...covering not ONLY Lazerman, but our second title, VINDICATION, as well as our un-announced THIRD title, and anything else that comes along! We will be making this new blog a bit more graphical and broad then the Lazerblog was...and with a bit more structure. New artwork, new contests, more true "behind the scenes" stuff...for more info read the lazerblog HERE

MAJOR NEWS!

HBComics has signed a deal with enemi Entertainment, publishers of the enemi Distribution catalog! Check them out HERE, and check out thier interview with Wizard Magazine HERE!

For more of the technical information I will be re-printing the Enemi Press release on the new catalog at the button of this Blog...for specifics regarding how this effects LAZERMAN, I have compiled a short FAQ below:

What IS this enemi Catalog of which you speak??
The enemi catalog is a full color, 300+ page catalog of independent comics which will be shipping to 2300+ retailers in August. .

What other comics besides Lazerman are in this catalog?
The Catalog has titles from some of the hottest publishers in indy comics, including ZENOSCOPE, ARCANA, MONARCH COMICS, HEROIC PUBLISHING, and even our friends ULTIMATE COMICS GROUP! And don't forget us, HBComics!

So what does this mean for Lazerman?
Simply put, this means that instead of only being available online, and through a few comic retailers whom we are able to contact and work out a deal with directly, Lazerman is going to be available to order through a catalog that will be reaching over 2300 retailers that we never would have been able to reach by ourselves!

Wait, hold on, wait a minute...so you're not using Ka-blam or indyplanet after all?
Yes, we ARE! Our deal with Enemi is non-exclusive...so the book will still be available online through indyplanet in September...but now in addition, Lazerman will ALSO be on the shelves of comic book stores and major retailers around the country in early October! The enemi catalog, however, is now our PRIMARY form of distribution!

How can I tell if MY local shop will have Lazerman?
The best thing you could do (which would also earn our undying gratitude) is to ask your local shop if they've ordered a enemi DISTRIBUTION catalog. If they haven't, tell them they should, and direct them to http://www.enemi-entertainment.com/ to order theirs. Then, of course, tell them they should order Lazerman from it.

I own a comic book shop, why should I request a catalog?
Because the enemi Catalog offers a selection of independant comics from some of the best indy publishers around....they have a focus on indy titles that some of the larger distributors don't necessarily have the time or space to focus on....remember, today's up and coming indy titles are tomorrow's breakout hits! And a good number of the titles available are ALREADY sucessful! But best of all, the catalog offers competitive retailer discounts!

So...uh....anything else I should know?
Well, Lazerman 1 and Lazerman 2 will be listed in the August catalog, with subsequent issues available in upcoming enemi Catalogs...and also other HBComics releases down the line...
